We celebrated our 2nd Forever Family Day on August 14th! Luke knew that it was a very special day. He got a new shirt as a gift that day. Per his request we went to McDonald's for dinner and came home for cup cakes and ice cream! It was a very special, fun day. We are so very very blessed to be this little guys mommy and daddy.
August also marked our first anniversary of living in this house. We knew when we bought it that it was a "fixer upper". Daniel wanted to buy it and I wasn't so sure about it. It seems that we have had one issue after another. The plumbing in this bathroom has been messing up since February and the bathroom has been completely out of commission since May. Well, the plumbers came out to fix the plumbing and had to cut a hole in the bathroom floor. Here is Daniel after he has the hole fixed. He was FILTHY! But I was very proud of him for getting it fixed. They should be out to lay the tile the end of this week!!!
Mom, Dad and Jen came out Labor Day weekend. Luke went home with them. This marked the first official night that he stayed away that I wouldn't get to see him first thing the next morning. He looked like such a big boy with his toy backpack on his back and his clothes in the rolling backpack. He went home with them on Aug. 31st which is our 2 year anniversary at home!
Our church is starting small groups and our home is a host home. The bed room across from Luke's has had green carpet and a terrible paint job on the walls. The whole house has hard wood floors under the carpet - they just need to be refinished. So we went ahead and painted blue walls and a white ceiling, ripped up the carpet and made it a play room for all the kids in the small group to play in. We didn't get the floors refinished just yet, but they don't look too bad. Luke absolutely loves this room. He likes to take naps on the foam blocks and play in there all the time. Our living and dining room looks so much bigger now that all the toys are out.
Funny story about the painting - Daniel sent me to Ace to buy the supplies to paint. I thought that I had done so good. I got it all ready to primer. Once we started with the primer paint was splashing every where. Daniel and I were both covered. We get finished and take the roller off and I had bought one of those half roller things. :) Oops. I guess he should have done the shopping!
We started this month by going to Sarah's 3rd birthday party. I can not begin to tell you how much Lukas loves being around Sarah and Avi Joy. He talks about them often, even though we don't get to see each other too often.

We went to the river with my family for vacation. I guess Luke was afraid that we were going to leave him and thought he would jump in Nana's suit case!
Daddy took Luke down a big slide that went into the river. Luke was quite the trooper, but decided he didn't want to do that anymore.

When we got back from the river we went to a concert with the Homan's at Utica Square. Luke and Sarah had a great time sharing snacks while we visited.
It was a little late, but before we left Nana and Papa's we popped some of those Pop-Its. That was my favorite when I was a kid and Luke liked them too!
The next week was Bible School. We hit the ground running after vacation. I was the co-director of Bible School so we had lots of things to get done when we got home. We did Veggie Tales and Luke had a blast all week.
The next week was the Free Will Baptist National Convention in Charleston, West Virginia. Our little man is quite the traveler. He loves to fly. He was great while we were there. There was a mall across the street from the Convention Center. We spent quite a bit of time over there riding rides. 
Luke also stayed the night two nights in Nana and Papa's hotel room. This was the first time that I haven't slept under the same room as him. We both survived! :)
After Nationals we got to stay home for a week. We left on August 2nd to head to OKC. Our flight left early on the 3rd so we stayed the night in OKC. Daniel and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on the 3rd while flying to Harlingen, TX with our youth ministry. It was so very romantic. I really don't mind sharing my anniversary though because at least 40 people received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Luke stomping trash at the Way of the Cross Warehouse while we are making kits to hand out. Our students crossed the border on Monday and Tuesday. I stayed back at the head quarters with Luke.
On Monday they went to the dump. It was a very eye opening experience for our kids. I really think that they have a better appreciation for the things that they have.
They also went into a neighborhood on Monday. They knocked on doors and invited people to a church service.
I think that the children were our kids highlight of the week. On Tuesday they went to a shark fishing village on the beach.
Daniel was an evangelist at a church camp the week of Memorial Day, so Luke and I headed to Tulsa to spend the holiday with family. We were able to spend Monday at Granny's and Grandma & James'.
Luke loves these cars at Granny's house. They used to be my uncles cars, so that is pretty neat.
These two keep Granny pretty busy. Kayla and Luke had so much fun together that Granny and Kayla came to our house about a week later and spent four nights.
Playing in the sprinkler is just one of the things that Kayla and Luke did during their visit to our house.
Church camp came after Granny and Kayla went home. It was a really great week.
Yes, this is my husband...Enough said. Camp always proves to be a life changing experience for our students. It is always amazing watching God work in the lives of our students.
Luke hung out with Nana and Papa the whole week of camp. Why would you want mom & dad when nana & papa are around? He had a blast!
We left camp with Nana and Papa Thursday evening after service to head to Tulsa for Vietnam Heritage Weekend. We were able to celebrate Father's Day with Papa. 
Vietnam Heritage Camp was so much fun. Luke got to hang out with his buddies. 
He got to meet Ella also!
He had a great time doing all the crafts on Saturday.
Although, he didn't quite know what to think about the red hand business.
We took our first swim of the summer this past Wednesday. We have a little fish on our hands. Luke had even more fun than he did last summer. We have quite a few water trips planned so that is a good thing!
We went to Hallie's b-day party at McDonald's this past weekend. Luke thought that it was pretty cool going to a party at McD's. When he woke up on Sunday morning the first words out of his mouth were "Where's the cake!". He's convinced that it is time for his birthday. He has already requested Lightning McQueen. We'll see what is in the works come October.
This is just a cute pic - I love this shirt. I always see little girl shirts that say "Sweet" and I always say that when I have a little girl she needs that shirt. Well, this is the first boy shirt that I have seen that says "Sweet". Just kind of a play off of our name!
The weekend after Acquire the Fire we went back to Tulsa while Daniel was at a youth pastor conference. We hung out with Nana, Papa and Aunt Jen. We also had lunch with Sarah, Andrew and Heather.
Sarah and Luke are so cute. Luke was tired when we got to McDonald's and it took him a little while to get down and play, but they ended up having a really good time.
Last weekend was the prom for the town that we live in. Kori came by our house to get her picture taken with her other boyfriend.
