It's been a while...

This is for you Kori!
I haven't updated since Luke's 1st day of school, so honestly I can't remember everything that has gone on.
On Luke's 1st day of school by himself they made frog hats. It was pretty cute watching the kids come out with their frog hats on.My boy loves his trains. His room is generally a train lovers paradise. Occasionally he gets creative and will take his track apart to make a different track which generally results in his track being torn apart. It irritates daddy when this happens since he's the track builder at our house. We celebrated Grandparents Day with Nana and Papa. Luke was learning about tadpoles and frogs at school. He had learned a tadpole song so we made a tadpole for their present. Then after we got home I discovered that I had already bought their present so I guess I have both of their birthdays covered. :)We got to make a pennant for school. It was a lot of fun!Luke also was learning about catepillars and cocoons/chrysalis at school. We went to mom's class and they had a chrysalis. Luke wanted one too! Nana was happy to oblige. She brought Luke a chrysalis. (It was already spun by the time she got to our house) We watched it for about a week and then one day Luke ran out of his bedroom and said "It hatched! It hatched!" The boy was so excited and Silas was here playing so that made it even more fun. Daddy was home for lunch so he helped us let it go. I was afraid that Luke was going to be upset so we talked about how the butterfly was going to go explore the world. It hung out for a few hours and then left. That evening Daniel and I were sitting on the back porch watching Luke play when we found a butterfly wing. Daniel was trying to hide it from Luke so he wouldn't see it and see that his butterfly died. For another full week Luke talked about his butterfly and how it was a catepillar. He'd say that the catepillar ate and ate and ate. Then it pooped and pooped and pooped. Then spun his chrysalis and then the chrysalis hatched. We let it go and it went to explore the world. This went on for about a week. One morning he started the story again but kept going. He ended the story with saying that he stepped on a butterfly on his slide. That little stinker had known for a week that his butterfly was dead. :) Luke had tons of fun helping Daddy fill in holes in the backyard. Here's Daddy and Lukas watching the homecoming parade last Friday.
The Sweet boy turns 4 tomorrow! The party is Saturday so I'll post again soon!

Luke's 1st day of Preschool

Luke had a great first day of preschool. He has been so excited to go. He was ready to go from the moment he woke up this morning. He looked pretty handsome too, if I do say so myself! :)Such a big boy carrying his backpack! This picture is actually after we were leaving. Today the parents went with the kids. He definitely didn't stick close to us at all. When it was time for the parent meeting he was playing and I was watching from across the room. A teacher came to get him to take him to the gym and he went to her. Then I could read his face - I have to make sure it's ok with my mom. He looked around and found me. I waved and he was off! He goes back by himself on Friday and I don't even think that he will miss us!
We had a swim party tonight with our teens for Back to School. Luke hates getting water in his eyes so he wore his goggles tonight. He's pretty cute!

Happy 3rd Forever Family Day to Us!!!

Three years ago today, the most precious boy in the world officially became our son! We love this little guy so very much and feel so priviledged to be his parents. We celebrated tonight by going out to dinner and with cupcakes and ice cream!
Luke's present this year was a t-shirt from Ha Long Bay. He is anxious to wear it.
Luke had an eventful morning - He cut his hair. Aunt Jen says every kid needs to cut their hair at least once. I'm not so sure about that. I ended up laughing though instead of getting on to him too hard. He is grounded from his scissors for a week though. Here's a cute pic of Luke playing his banjo that we made. He thinks he is a rock star!

Stay tuned for next week's post of his first day of preschool!

Cutest Little Ringbearer

So Nana, Papa and Jen can see our cute little man...
Lukas was the ring bearer today in Kori and Trevor's wedding. He did so good. I was wondering last night if he was going to walk down the aisle. Between bribery and a good talking too he did great! Daniel really gave it to him before bed last night. They kept saying "Just smile and walk down the aisle". I went in Luke's bedroom to check on him last night and he was sleeping and saying "Just smile and walk down the aisle" so I think he even dreamed about it. Our cute little guy!Lukas and Ally - the ring bearer and flower girl
Luke told me today that Ally looked like a princess! :) He's already coming up with pick up lines at 3!Right before he prepared to walk down the aisle. Kori and Trevor gave this Bumblebee to him last night, but I wouldn't let him open it until he actually did the deed.
He did great, although I did get a scare. I was on my knees at the back of the sanctuary and when I told him to walk to Trevor he took about 2 steps and turned around. He says "Mom I just need to tell you something real quick". I told him "No just walk". And Tyler said he said mom, i love you. That's my sweet boy! He walked to Trevor and did a decent job standing there through the wedding. We got a few waves and funny faces, but that is to be expected with a 3 year old.Right after the I Do's were said. I accidentally cut Bumblebee out of the picture.
With his bribes - Bumblebee and a sucker!

Mini Vacation

After our incredibly busy summer we felt like we needed a little family time so we headed to OKC for a little mini vacation. On Thursday night we went to Incredible Pizza for dinner. Luke had a blast playing the games. His favorite part was driving the go karts with his daddy. They won first place! He even has a ribbon to prove it and he is very proud of it. After dinner we went to the movies and saw Up. We all liked it. It was in 3D and Luke didn't like wearing the glasses, but other than that we all had fun.Friday morning we went to the zoo. The zoo trip didn't exactly go as planned. We overslept that morning and then when we got there they were having free admission. It was a mad house. On top of that I didn't bring a stroller because I thought Luke would want to walk around and see the animals. We had fun but it would have helped if we would have brought our stroller. We left around 2:00 because Luke was getting cranky and went back to the hotel so Luke could take a nap. Funny note - We had slept at church camp so much this summer that when we were in the car going back to the hotel he kept calling it church camp.By the time Luke woke up from his nap it was dinner time. We walked to Abuelo's. It was really good. After that we went and road the boats on the canal. Then we went and saw Ice Age 3. I haven't seen the first 2 all the way through but I think that I liked that better than Up.
This fountain was outside the movie theatre. Luke loved it. We stood here probably 4 times while he looked in.
We're back now. We stopped at Penn Square Mall today so Daniel could get some stuff for the church. They have a new Lego store. Luke is the proud owner of James Celebrating Sodor Day. He's pretty proud of his Lego train!

Road Trip and Cattle Drive

This last week Daniel was speaking in Poteau so he dropped me and Luke off in Tulsa on his way there. We got Aunt Jen and headed to Granny's house. Luke wanted to swing right when he got there and Ryan and Makayla were happy to oblige him. :) On this trip all of the cousins were at Granny's! That doesn't happen very often - usually only at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had lots of fun together. I'm the oldest at 28 and Makayla is the youngest at 7. Luke is the only great grandchild at 3. (Hopefully we'll change that soon!)After dinner that night Morganne and Makayla put on a fashion show. Here is Rocky. He's so embarrassed.I took Luke and Makayla to the park the next morning. Goodness, it was hot. It's amazing that the heat doesn't seem to bother the kids. I pooped out on them after about 45 minutes. There was a train at the park so of course Luke needed a picture taken. The teenagers had a great time. They hung Ryan's boxers up on Granny's flag pole. It took him forever to notice.Since all the grandkids were there we took pictures. Luke wasn't really cooperating. My cousin T.J. has a new puppy. Luke put the leash on Ryan's belt loop and walked him.Isn't the puppy too cute!!!Playing video games. We went back to Nana and Papa's on Saturday. On Sunday we went to church and then went shopping. Luke got a new backpack for school. He thinks it is so cool! It's a Bumblebee backpack. He now wants a Transformers birthday party. We'll see if he still wants that in a couple of months.I did a terrible job of taking pics when we were at Nana and Papa's - so here is a pic with Nana and Jen after they took us to meet Daniel.Only in small town Oklahoma would you see this - The rodeo is in town so they kick it off with a longhorn cattle drive through town. We live in the perfect spot because they come right in front of our house.

It's really pretty cool. Here's Luke checking out the horse riders that are a little further down the road.
That's all for now!

Praise the Lord!!!

Our fingerprint approval/background checks came in yesterday!!! After five months of waiting and being fingerprinted three times we are thrilled! I mailed it to the social worker yesterday and as soon as she gets it our homestudy is finished. I am so excited!
Last Wednesday after church we did some fireworks with some friends. Our friend has Luke addicted. He had fun with sparklers, but was loving lighting fireworks. Our town had a big 4th of July celebration. They were expecting 10,000 people so we really stayed in all day Saturday. Luke was running a fever, but we went to check stuff out at about 9:00. We caught a pony ride and a train ride. It was a lot of fun! They handed out 3-D glasses to watch fireworks with. We had a really great 4th! Hope y'all did too!
