Our Happy Birthday Jesus Party!!!

Last night we had a birthday party for Jesus complete with cupcakes and ice cream! Luke loves birthday parties for that specific reason. So I figured if we had a party with cake and ice cream he might understand more that Christmas is Jesus' birthday. After we had our cake and ice cream we went through FamilyLife's What God Wants for Christmas. Here is Luke looking in the mirror (since God wants us for Christmas) that was in box number 7. And here is the Sweet Boy with the completed nativity set!
Merry Christmas Everyone! I'll post again after Christmas.

Thanksgiving and Other Stuff

It has been a long time since my last post. We've had computer drama...
We put our Christmas tree up before we left for Thanksgiving. Friday has been deemed Family Fun Night at the Sweet House. So we had family fun putting up the tree. Daniel was spreading the ornaments out on the tree after Luke put them on. Daniel was finished by the time we got to the balls. You can tell who decorated the tree! I love it.
We headed to Nana and Papa's at the beginning of the next week. I sure didn't take very many pictures while we were gone at Thanksgiving. Makayla and Luke have so much fun at Granny's house. Makayla is such a good cousin. We went to see Madagascar 2 with Kayla and Uncle Bobby. Luke liked the movie and is loving singing the Move It song.We went to the park on Thanksgiving Day with my parents to take their Christmas card picture. Luke had to give the toys a try before we had Thanksgiving Dinner. We came home and Luke and I headed back to Nana and Papa's the next weekend for Nana's 50th birthday! We had lunch with Sarah, Andrew and Avi Joy. Luke and I had to dash pretty quick to go and get our hair cut. He loves playing with Sarah and Avi Joy.That night we took Nana out to dinner for her birthday. We took Luke to Rhema after that. Luke loved the bridge at Rhema. Check out our Spiderman! We had snow at our house last week! Daniel did go and get his coat after this picture! We went to our city's Christmas light display on Friday night. It wasn't as good as Rhema, but for our town it wasn't bad. It was lots of fun with Luke running in front of me and Daniel.
Luke is learning and growing so fast. Last night Daniel and Luke were watching the John movie on TBN. I was wanting to put Luke to bed, but Daniel said that he wanted to see Jesus die on the cross. I said that I thought that would be gruesome. Daniel told me it was rated G. So my little sweet boy watched a movie all about Jesus with his Daddy. It was so sweet watching them. He doesn't understand everything about sin and all that, but he is really understanding that Jesus died on the cross and came back from the dead.
This Friday for Family Fun Night we're having a birthday party for Baby Jesus! Maybe all get those pictures up in a more timely manner. If I don't Merry Christmas everyone!

Halloween, Dentist, and other fun stuff...

It's been a while since my last update - we've had a bit of computer issues. So here is a little bit of what we've been up to.
Lukas and I headed to Nana, Papa and Aunt Jen's house for Halloween. We met Heather, Sarah and Andrew at the pumpkin patch on Halloween. We had a great time catching up. That night we headed to the Hometown Halloween in the town Mom and Dad live. We almost didn't make it. Luke took a late nap and was not wanting to wake up. He ended up having a really good time even though he didn't want to wear his costume - just his hat. It was a lot of fun. He got lots of candy. They had free pony rides and blow up games.
Luke bounced in the bounce house. Then he wanted to slide down this big slide. I didn't think that he was big enough. Well, he thought differently. My little man climbed up there all by himself and had a blast sliding down. When we came back Luke had his dentist appointment. He did really good. There were some tears, but it wasn't too bad. They let him pick out the color of his filling. Nana wasn't very happy with me that Luke now has a green tooth so here is a picture to prepare her before we see her next week. He is so proud of his green tooth. He is now taking flouride every day to try to help the condition that his baby teeth are in. Hopefully that will help so his mouth won't have all the colors of the rainbow in it by the time he gets his permanent teeth.
He is growing up so fast. He is learning to make conversation on the phone. Whenever he talks to someone on the phone he asks them how their dog is doing. It is pretty cute! That is all the fun stuff that we've done lately. We'll post again after Thanksgiving!

Birthday Party Pictures and Other Fun Stuff

Since my last post we've taken our youth ministry to Frontier City. We all had a really great time.Check out that face! After Frontier City we headed south to attend the Oklahoma State Meeting of Free Will Baptist. We were able to stay with Granny. It worked out great having a free babysitter. It was a really great week. Granny held a family birthday party for Luke. He was jumping at another chance to eat some cake!He got some cool Thomas stuff from Uncle Bobby and Aunt Shawn. Granny got him some pumpkin crocs and a pumpkin shirt. For those of you that don't know we are a OU Sooner household. Luke's pumpkin crocs kind of look like OSU shoes. When I asked him what he needed to tell Granny (meaning thank you) he said, "We don't like the Pokes, we like the Boomer Sooners!" Not quite what I had in mind, but oh well!Luke had a great time playing with cousins that week. Granny had a full house all week long!We came home from Granny's on a Thursday and Nana, Papa and Aunt Jen came in for Luke's birthday party!Luke had a Lightning McQueen birthday party. I told Daniel that our son was commiting idol worship. He stared at his cake for hours. We had to pick it up the day before the party - so he had plenty of time to look at his cake. The poor baby had thrown up because he had so much drainage. But isn't this just too cute!Daddy and Luke built a house with one of Luke's b-day presents.Do you think he was tired? Our church had our Fall Party this past weekend. Here is my James!
This was Luke's favorite booth. He was fascinated that he was in the bubble.
On a side note - Luke has a cavity. I've been really worried about his teeth ever since they came in. When we were at Granny's for the state meeting he started screaming when we would brush his teeth. We took him to the dentist when we got home and right now we know that he has at least one cavity. We have an appointment on Monday to have that tooth filled and see if he has any more cavities. So you can say a little prayer for us Monday morning at 8:00!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Sweet Boy!!!

My baby turned 3 yesterday. I was going to write this blog yesterday, but my wonderful husband had the computer tied up all day finishing up his paper for his class. (Side note - Thank goodness that class is over. I don't think I could have taken much more! :) )

I don't know if I just don't remember my emotions concerning Luke's 1st and 2nd birthdays, but this one was tough. I've had a difficult time lately - it may just be because Luke is growing and changing so much right now - but I've been thinking about his birth mom a lot. You know I think that Luke is the most handsome, smart boy on the face of the earth. It's really been making me wonder about his birth family. At times when he looks especially sweet I wish that his birth mom could see this particular "face". I think that this is just an adoptive mom thing - basically, you have to experience it to know what I'm talking about. I think I'm pretty normal in this area.

We talk about Vietnam a lot. On the night before his birthday, I was in the laundry room folding clothes. When I came out Luke had gotten our pictures out and was looking at them. He told me all about them. It was pretty cute.We let Luke open his presents from us yesterday morning. He has been looking forward to this birthday since this summer so I felt bad to make him wait until next weekend to open his presents. This was his favorite gift. A Mack truck with a Lightning McQueen Shake-N-Go car. He played with it all day yesterday and even got in trouble last night playing with it when he was supposed to be going to sleep. Luke picked McDonald's for his b-day dinner last night. Who would have ever guessed that?!?!
Stay tuned for the birthday party post!

Day Out With Thomas

Thanks Aunt Jen for sending us to meet the "real" Thomas!
We had a great time today meeting Thomas. Sorry for all the pics. There is an aunt, nana and papa that live a long ways away that I know are going to be anxious to see pictures!

Church Together and Stuck in Tulsa

Here's what we've been up to!
We went to a church conference at Hillsdale at couple of weeks ago. Nana and Papa met us there. Nana was a lifesaver watching Luke while I went to classes. She brought him a bug catcher. Luke is still playing with it. The bug catcher had big tweezers that Luke calls "squeezers", so he doesn't have to touch the bugs...Yeah right! :)This was just a cute picture. Luke made a bed out of my laundry basket. I can not begin to tell you how much this little guy is growing up. His language sounds so big now. He still has a few words that have a little bit of baby in them. Instead of saying another he says "anuhwe". It's so cute. His imaginative play has developed tremendously. It is so funny listening to him having a conversation between two toys.
We went to Tulsa last Thursday. The purpose of the trip was to get our hair cut on Friday and his 3 year old pictures taken on Saturday. I had over booked us so Daniel stayed home to take care of the concession stands that our youth ministry is doing for a fundraiser. We got in Thursday evening and Luke got to open a few early birthday presents. Aunt Jen got a big kiss from Luke because she bought him tickets to A Day Out With Thomas for his birthday. He is so excited! We are going this Friday. Stay tuned for lots of pictures!
Our story doesn't end there. Oh no... I unknowingly came to Tulsa with the stomach flu. My dear mother spent the whole night taking care of me. She is wonderful. My dad also went to the store at 4:00 a.m. to buy 7up. I slept all day Friday and mom called in sick. Mom and Dad took care of Luke. And my poor father - I shared the germ and he got sick Sunday night.
So to the stuck in Tulsa part - We had to stay until Tuesday so that I could get my hair cut. We had a great visit though.
Well, that's what we've been up to. I'll post again Friday night with our pictures from A Day Out With Thomas.
