Birthday Party Pictures and Other Fun Stuff

Since my last post we've taken our youth ministry to Frontier City. We all had a really great time.Check out that face! After Frontier City we headed south to attend the Oklahoma State Meeting of Free Will Baptist. We were able to stay with Granny. It worked out great having a free babysitter. It was a really great week. Granny held a family birthday party for Luke. He was jumping at another chance to eat some cake!He got some cool Thomas stuff from Uncle Bobby and Aunt Shawn. Granny got him some pumpkin crocs and a pumpkin shirt. For those of you that don't know we are a OU Sooner household. Luke's pumpkin crocs kind of look like OSU shoes. When I asked him what he needed to tell Granny (meaning thank you) he said, "We don't like the Pokes, we like the Boomer Sooners!" Not quite what I had in mind, but oh well!Luke had a great time playing with cousins that week. Granny had a full house all week long!We came home from Granny's on a Thursday and Nana, Papa and Aunt Jen came in for Luke's birthday party!Luke had a Lightning McQueen birthday party. I told Daniel that our son was commiting idol worship. He stared at his cake for hours. We had to pick it up the day before the party - so he had plenty of time to look at his cake. The poor baby had thrown up because he had so much drainage. But isn't this just too cute!Daddy and Luke built a house with one of Luke's b-day presents.Do you think he was tired? Our church had our Fall Party this past weekend. Here is my James!
This was Luke's favorite booth. He was fascinated that he was in the bubble.
On a side note - Luke has a cavity. I've been really worried about his teeth ever since they came in. When we were at Granny's for the state meeting he started screaming when we would brush his teeth. We took him to the dentist when we got home and right now we know that he has at least one cavity. We have an appointment on Monday to have that tooth filled and see if he has any more cavities. So you can say a little prayer for us Monday morning at 8:00!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Sweet Boy!!!

My baby turned 3 yesterday. I was going to write this blog yesterday, but my wonderful husband had the computer tied up all day finishing up his paper for his class. (Side note - Thank goodness that class is over. I don't think I could have taken much more! :) )

I don't know if I just don't remember my emotions concerning Luke's 1st and 2nd birthdays, but this one was tough. I've had a difficult time lately - it may just be because Luke is growing and changing so much right now - but I've been thinking about his birth mom a lot. You know I think that Luke is the most handsome, smart boy on the face of the earth. It's really been making me wonder about his birth family. At times when he looks especially sweet I wish that his birth mom could see this particular "face". I think that this is just an adoptive mom thing - basically, you have to experience it to know what I'm talking about. I think I'm pretty normal in this area.

We talk about Vietnam a lot. On the night before his birthday, I was in the laundry room folding clothes. When I came out Luke had gotten our pictures out and was looking at them. He told me all about them. It was pretty cute.We let Luke open his presents from us yesterday morning. He has been looking forward to this birthday since this summer so I felt bad to make him wait until next weekend to open his presents. This was his favorite gift. A Mack truck with a Lightning McQueen Shake-N-Go car. He played with it all day yesterday and even got in trouble last night playing with it when he was supposed to be going to sleep. Luke picked McDonald's for his b-day dinner last night. Who would have ever guessed that?!?!
Stay tuned for the birthday party post!

Day Out With Thomas

Thanks Aunt Jen for sending us to meet the "real" Thomas!
We had a great time today meeting Thomas. Sorry for all the pics. There is an aunt, nana and papa that live a long ways away that I know are going to be anxious to see pictures!

We also had a family picture taken, but Daniel is going to have to help me scan it.

We got a balloon and actually made it home with it! Luke is still traumatized from losing his Elmo balloon.

Church Together and Stuck in Tulsa

Here's what we've been up to!
We went to a church conference at Hillsdale at couple of weeks ago. Nana and Papa met us there. Nana was a lifesaver watching Luke while I went to classes. She brought him a bug catcher. Luke is still playing with it. The bug catcher had big tweezers that Luke calls "squeezers", so he doesn't have to touch the bugs...Yeah right! :)This was just a cute picture. Luke made a bed out of my laundry basket. I can not begin to tell you how much this little guy is growing up. His language sounds so big now. He still has a few words that have a little bit of baby in them. Instead of saying another he says "anuhwe". It's so cute. His imaginative play has developed tremendously. It is so funny listening to him having a conversation between two toys.
We went to Tulsa last Thursday. The purpose of the trip was to get our hair cut on Friday and his 3 year old pictures taken on Saturday. I had over booked us so Daniel stayed home to take care of the concession stands that our youth ministry is doing for a fundraiser. We got in Thursday evening and Luke got to open a few early birthday presents. Aunt Jen got a big kiss from Luke because she bought him tickets to A Day Out With Thomas for his birthday. He is so excited! We are going this Friday. Stay tuned for lots of pictures!
Our story doesn't end there. Oh no... I unknowingly came to Tulsa with the stomach flu. My dear mother spent the whole night taking care of me. She is wonderful. My dad also went to the store at 4:00 a.m. to buy 7up. I slept all day Friday and mom called in sick. Mom and Dad took care of Luke. And my poor father - I shared the germ and he got sick Sunday night.
So to the stuck in Tulsa part - We had to stay until Tuesday so that I could get my hair cut. We had a great visit though.
Well, that's what we've been up to. I'll post again Friday night with our pictures from A Day Out With Thomas.
